Ingredients
BBQ Sauce
- 2 cups ketchup
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- ⅓ cup packed brown sugar
- ⅓ cup dark molasses
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
- ½ tsp liquid smoke optional
Wings
- 4 pounds whole wings
Wing Rub
- 2 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F.
- Make the BBQ sauce: In a saucepan, combine all the sauce ingredients, including the liquid smoke if using. Simmer on low, stirring often, for 15 minutes, until slightly thickened. Let cool.
- Prep the wings: Mix the rub ingredients together. Pat the wings very dry, then toss them with the rub until evenly coated.
- Bake: Line a sheet pan with foil to catch the drippings and prevent burning, and set a wire rack on top. Arrange the wings on the rack and bake, flipping the wings every 20 minutes, until golden and crispy.
- Sauce and serve: Toss the wings in the BBQ sauce. Serve whole with dips.
